The next year's Geneva Motor Show is most likely to host the presentation of a completely new Infiniti that will integrate a rear-wheel drive configuration together with a front engine. It is not the new Infiniti G and one of the Nissan's luxury division's main strategies is to provide a perfect combination between comfort and thrills in a package that would prove to be competitive with other two-seaters on the market today. Lotus being behind gives its fans hope that Nissan's luxury division is about to finally shake off its slightly boring image featuring an aggressive look. Auto Express informed car fans that a production version of the Essence Concept from 2009 at the next Geneva Show. Auto Express added that the Japanese carmaker was also working on a pair of eco-friendly models, oen of them being a premium four-seater based on the electric Nissan Leaf, scheduled for launch in 2013, followed by a hybrid aimed to take on the Lexus CT 200h in 2015. Furthermore, Infiniti got help of chassis from Lotus to obtain a proper feel, before pitting the little beast against its German rivals, BMW Z4 and Audi TT. Infiniti desperately needed boost in this department, although we don't expect it to ever match either the Audi TT or BMW Z4 in sales. As the company's representatives were not too eager to release too many details, it is known that the car model is going to slot below the F-Series Coupe and thus, using the Nissan 370Z's 3.7-liter V6 looks is unlikely. However, it would make some sense if the model borrowed engines from Renault, following Group Lotus and Renault Group's F1 tie-in. Subscribe to Car news by Email |
