Nissan Leaf NISMO arrives at Le Mans

The NISMO RC represents the souped up version of the electric Nissan Leaf and it is going to be the first in a series of guest-star appearances at various racing events all over the world. Its devut is scheduled to take place at the Le Mans 24 hours, one of the most anticipated races of the year. According to the press reports released by the Japanese carmaker, the eye-catching race car will take part in the Le Mans Vers Le Futur race on June 11-12. The car is often referred to by Nissan as the first-ever zero emission racing spec production vehicle and it will show two demonstration runs to the enthusiast public. It appeared at the New York International Auto Show this April and was boasting the same electric drive train as the regular Leaf, guaranteeing no more than 107HP and 207 lb-ft of torque, being able at the same time to pass the 62 mph in just 6.85 seconds and a maximum speed of 93 mph. Simon Sproule, Nissan motorsport head, announced earlier this week the possibility of Nissan NISMO RC taking part in F1 races, running around on the tracks ahead of each of the Grand Prix, a piece of information which seems logical as Nissan is participating at Le Mans.
