Honda didn't have a lot of success with the model it presented back in the '90s called the Beat. The company only managed to sell 33,600 units in 5 years. The design belonged to Pininfarina who later sold the rights to the Japanese carmaker.
Apparently Honda is thinking of creating a new model. The rumors exist for quite a lot of years now and a lot of suppositions concerning the engine were released.
Official information was presented and it seems that the future model will be based on the CR-Z and the design will have something from the Open Study Model concept that was unveiled in 2008 in the UK.
The new Beat will have a 1.3-liter or a 1.5-liter VTEC engine and dual-clutch transmission "stolen" from the Honda VFR1200F motorcycle. This means that the model will be a combination of Honda's car and motorcycle technology.
The price is expected to start somewhere around $ 30,000 or maybe less and also you can expect to find it in dealerships starting 2013.
