Like in any other industry, in the auto world there are a lot of tricks the carmakers use to increase sale. McLaren is one of them. Back in 2009 the manufacturer presented the MP4-12C. The big surprise refers to the fact that the car is out of stock and it's booked for the next three years. Increasing the sales is not really an option because if it produces less the profit margin will be bigger for the dealers and the residual value will increase. This is why the carmaker will only manufacture 1,000 units / year. For the ones interested in more than just McLaren's long term strategy, here are some details about the model in question. The MP4-12C has a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that is able to deliver 592 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 600 Nm of torque between 3,000 and 7,000 rpm. The figures are really big and they mean that the car can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in only 3.3 seconds and it's able to reach a top speed of 205 mph. The price for one unit can begin at $ 231,400. So if you really want one, now you just have to be patient. Subscribe to Car news by Email |
