McLaren spends $1 billion to challenge Ferrari and Lamborghini

Following Ferrari, McLaren is proud to be one of the most successful team in Formula 1, now willing to become the British contender that would challenge the Italian supremacy in Formula 1. Yesterday, it opened its first dealership in the most prestigious part of London. Thus, the British automaker announced its plans which became much broader. Antony Sheriff, the managing director at McLaren stated that McLaren Automotive was ready to spend as much as $1 billion in order to develop and launch 13 new models and versions in the coming years, willing to challenge the Ferrari and Lamborghini. He was presenting their plan as a great challenge to come to the market offering a new brand. As far as we know, McLaren has already spent about $320 million for the development of its 458 Italia challenger, while its $500,000 racing counterpart was unveiled last month.
McLaren's sole production car is the street-legal version of the MP4-12C which received a positive feedback from customers as it has a two-year waiting list and more than 2,000 orders.
