The new generation 2012 Opel Astra ecoFLEX was unveiled

A new model with a very low CO2 emission level was presented by General Motors. The car I'm talking about is the 2012 Opel Astra / Vauxhall ecoFlex. It has 99 g/km the emission level and this is because of its 1.7 CDTI turbo-diesel engine that uses a special technology. This engine can deliver 130 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque between 2,000 rpm and 2,500 rpm.
So the emissions are low. The carmaker decided to decrease the fuel consumption as well and that is why tried to improve the aerodynamics and really did it. Now the model has a 12 mm-lowered chassis, 215/60 R 16 or 215/50 R 17 ContiEcoContrast 5 tires that have reduced rolling resistance and also the model features a Start / Stop system. The real numbers were not mentioned yet.
To decrease the CO2 emissions of the ecoFLEX the carmaker user a series of technologies like Clean Tech Combustion, braking energy recuperation, thermal management system and a new 6-speed gearbox that has reduced friction.
The price and the starting date of the sale will be revealed later.
