Mercedes celebrates 125th anniversary at Peeble Beach

Mercedes-Benz is proud to celebrate this year the 125th anniversary and the German carmaker cannot miss the opportunity to display cars that treasure the link between past and future. On August 21st, Mercedes-Benz has scheduled the Peeble Beach Concours d'Elegance, where they will bring a special exhibition with the topic "125 years inventor of the automobile". The 200 HP Benz of 1909, also known as the Lightning Benz together with the Mercedes racing car designed by Wilhelm Maybach in 1906, are going to please the international audience. Using an authentic engine, the vehicle that is showed in Peeble Beach proves to be a faithful reproduction, while the SSK boasts to be the most fascinating and exclusive model among the supercharged six-cylinder sports cars of the Mercedes-Benz S series. Furthermore, a Mercedes-Benz 600 (W 100, 1969), a Mercedes-Benz 220 SE (W 180, 1958), a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL "Gullwing" (W 198, 1954), a Silver Arrow W 154 Grand Prix racing car (1939) as well as a so-called American Mercedes (1905) will be displayed at the event as a replica of the Benz Patent Motor Car of 1886. The future of the famous brand lies ahead with the "Aesthetics 125!" sculpture which was created by Mercedes-Benz design, while the more immediate future is enhanced by the concept car versions of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster and the next generation of the A-Klasse. With an environment-friendly electric drive that makes extensive use of the fuel cell, the F-Cell Roadster demonstrates how Carl Benz perhaps would have built his Patent Motor Car today.
