Interesting ideas revealing the future of Peugeot have recently been provided by the French carmaker which has its newest offering embodied by the 508 RXH. The car model completes the mid-size model's range after the estate and sedan. This fall's Frankfurt Motor Show is going to mark the debut of the crossover, although some peeks of it were given in July. The carmaker is also planning to display a limited edition of the RXH that will be featured by Alcantara leather upholstery, a Calern Brown exterior color and will be individually numbered. It will be produced in only 300 units available to order this fall. Furthermore, it features a unique front end, flared wheel arches, wider tracks, a higher-riding suspension along with 18-inch wheels and was based on the estate version of the 508, following in the lines of the Audi Allroad and Volvo XC70. Differentiating itself from the other models of the sort, the new Peugeot 508 RXH comes with a new four-wheel-drive system that makes extensive use of an electric motor that appears to be similar to the one used in the HX1 and the 3008. An electric motor mounted at the rear together with a 2.0-liter HDi FAP turbo diesel located up front make up the Hybrid4 system with each motor providing four modes: Sport, Automatic, 4WD or the electric motor powering the car and thus, Zero Emissions. The 508 RXH offers its future customers an incredibly low fuel consumption of 4.0 lt/100 km, while its CO2 emission reach also a good level, of 109 g/km. The Peugeot 508 RXH will be released on the market beginning with the spring of 2012, one year after its debut. Subscribe to Car news by Email |
