Do not drink and drive anymore in Northern Ireland

If you didn't know, Northern Ireland has one of the highest drink drive limit in Europe and this is 80 mg/100 ml. The only one above is Cyprus with 90 mg/100 ml. Not long ago, Northern Ireland Environment Minister, Alex Attwood thought things through and developed a new program that includes several measures that like lowering the drink drive limit to 50 mg/100 ml for the majority and 20 mg/100 ml for the young drivers and the inexperienced ones.
Apart from this limit, the Minister wants to introduce more serious and fixed penalties for the ones that make mistakes for the first time and get caught with lower limits and the ones caught with a higher level will be persecuted in court.
This is not all. The offenders caught over the limit will be sent to a drink drive rehabilitation scheme and more than that, in some situations, they will not have the opportunity to ask for a blood test instead of the traditional breathanalyzer one.
The new law will be ready for public consultation by March next year.
