Here we have a friendly military truck. The model comes from Ricardo and goes by the name of FED ALPHA. When we said friendly, we meant environment friendly, as it was built in such a way to be as fuel efficient as possible. Actually the FED ALPHA is part of the Fuel Efficient Ground Vehicle Demonstrator (FED) program for the United States Army's Tank Automotive Research Development and Engineering Center. To be able to accomplish everything the program asks for, Ricardo equipped the FED ALPHA with a Cummins l4 engine and with Goodyear Fuel Max low rolling resistance tires. The electric power on board comes from a Kollmorgen 28-volt permanent magnet integrated starter-generator. Many parts, like the underbody blast shield, the structure and armoring are made from aluminum by Alcoa Defense. The military truck, FED ALPHA will be presented to the world at the 2011 AUSA Annual Meeting & Exposition that will happen these days.
