Denmark offered the title Car of the Year to Opel Ampera

Denmark decided to award the Opel Ampera and named it the 2012 Car of the Year. Some of the defeated models are the BMW 1-Series, Opel Zafira, Kia Picanto and Ford Focus.
The amount of money European customers will have to take out of their pockets reaches EUR 42.900. Denmark offers substantial tax incentives of up to the incredible amount of EUR 20.588. Only 283 units were sold in the first six months of this year.
The model is powered by an electric motor that delivers 111 kW / 150 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque, right from the first turn of the wheel. The motor takes the power from a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery and also works in conjunction with a gasoline fueled engine.
The Opel Ampera seems to be worthy of the award it got from Denmark. We can only say: Keep on the good work!
