The Range Rover was spotted during some tests on the Nurburgring and this could only mean the carmaker has big plans concerning the dynamics of its model. The SUV will have the Jaguar XJ platform and will use composite materials for different panels. The final result will be a weight reduction of up to 400 kg. This also means the model will have lower fuel consumption and it will be faster. The same Jaguar platform will be used for the next generation of the Range Rover Sport. The carmaker gave up the idea of using the Discovery chassis and so, the Sport model will offer seven seats for the first time. From the pictures you can see it has lower roof line. The wheelbase will be longer as well and this could only mean the passenger will have even more space. When it comes to the engine, well, the car uses the engine from the current model and so it will have diesel or petrol units that will be able to deliver between 260 and 510 horsepower. The carmaker will offer a hybrid version as well, but later. The new Range Rover will be introduced in about a year, as a 2013 model. Source: autoevolution
