Now we are all waiting for the new Range Rover model, but nobody is wondering about the Range Rover Sport. This last one is using the Discovery's Integrated Body Frame chassis that is more of a ladder one and not an on-board driving-focused one.
The good thing is that for the next generation, both the Range Rover and the Sport version will share modified versions of the Jaguar XJ's aluminum chassis. This way, the model will be 400 kg lighter and the Sport version as well. As a result, the new platform will bring us the first seven-seater Range Rover Sport.
The carmaker is keeping itself busy until the Range Rover is finalizing its development and so is using a test mule for the Sport which adds new and interesting elements to the current body. The model is expected to arrive somewhere in 2012, but the Sport version a bit later.
In the pictures below you can easily observe several front fascia changes and also an exhaust system that is situated below the suspension. We have to admit that this feature is very unusual for a test vehicle.
The engine will be the same one from the current generation and also a hybrid version will be launched after the car is revealed. Source: autoevolution
