BMW announced a recall due to a fire hazard

The German carmaker, BMW announced a recall. The models involved are from a total five lines including five models built between 2008 and 2011 due to a fire hazard. To be more precise, the affected vehicles include the 5-Series, 5-Series Gran Turismo, 7-Series, X5 and X6 that are equipped with 8- or 12-cylinder engines.
The problem is actually with the electric auxiliary water pump. This could overheat and cause the pump to fail. So far, the company had recorded 102 cases out of which two led to engine compartment fire.
The whole recall process will start this month. The dealers will have to replace the auxiliary water pump free of charge. For more information, you can contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417 or you can contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 1-888-327-4236 directly.
