The new Cadillac ATS engine was announced

The Cadillac ATS engines were revealed by General Motors and it seems that the new sedan will be presented to the world next month, at the 2012 NAIAS in Detroit.
The model will be powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine that will be able to produce 270 horsepower and 260 lb. ft. of torque. It features a direct-injection system with twin-cams and four valves per cylinder, a twin-scroll turbocharger with an air-to-air intercooler and continuously variable valve timing.
The engine also features a forged-steel crankshaft with modular balance shaft system and also a two stage variable-displacement oil pump with jet-spray piston cooling. The engineers managed to reduce the friction in the new ATS 2.0-liter engine by 16%. This only means that the power efficiency was improved. The carmaker is also proud to say that they have eliminated turbo lag almost completely.
This 2.0-liter engine is not the only variant offered. The ATS can also feature a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and a 3.6-liter V6. There are no details available yet.
