Hyundai decided to create a successor for the North American Elantra Touring and in the end the specialists thought is better to offer the hatchback model rather than the estate version. Now, the Elantra Touring is sold as the i30 CW in Europe. This is actually the station wagon version of the i30 series. As you can see in the gallery below, the new model has as base the five-door hatchback model and not the future estate. The name of the car might be modified. The model will be available in showrooms next spring and it will have four engines available including a 1.4-liter and a 1.6-liter units in both gasoline and turbo diesel. The power of the models will be sent to the wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox, but the 1.6-liter gasoline and diesel will be optionally available with a six-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle developed for the US market will be powered by a 1.6-liter GDI Gamma engine that will be able to develop 138 horsepower and 123 lb. ft. of torque.
