At the end of the year, like any other carmaker, Volkswagen started counting the number of units sold. It seems that the US sales have increased with 26.3 % over 2010 with 324.402 cars. This might be considered the best year in terms of sales.
To be more precise, in December sales have increased in the US with up to 36.2 % over the same month last year. Even more than that, the carmaker admitted that they haven't had such a good end of the year since 1972.
Last year, VW managed to sell 150.515 units of the new Jetta, a 54.5 % increase over 2010. The December sales were 18 % bigger. The new Passat registered a 124 % growth over 2011 in December. The list of good news for the German carmaker continues with the 2012 Beetle that sold 5.626 units last year, the GTI sales increased with 22.6 % and last, but not least, the Touareg which increased sales with 59.9 %.
It's a little strange, but it seems that diesel TDI models sales have increased with 21.6 % of the total sales of the company.
