Last December, the first Volvo plug-in hybrid version that has as base the V60 was launched and it seems that it will go on sale as a limited edition in November, in Europe. This is not all. The carmaker will add another plug-in hybrid to its range that has as base the XC60 crossover with a gasoline engine. This concept is powered by a turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine up front that can deliver 280 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque. The power will be sent to the wheels through a new 8-speed automatic gearbox. The rear wheels are driven by an electric motor that features an 11.2 kWh lithium-ion battery. The driver can choose if he wants to switch to all-wheel drive and he can do it by pushing a button. This battery can deliver 70 horsepower. The combined output is 350 horsepower that will help the car accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. The electric motor can be used alone for around 45 km with no CO2 emissions. If you still want the driving pleasure and the performance, but also you want to reduce the CO2 emissions, well then, the four-cylinder engines are the answer.
