Are car record sales a good sign?

Sales increased for Bentley by 30% last year and Rolls-Royce sold 3.500 cars in North America. It's almost a sure thing. In the middle of the crisis, people buy a lot of expensive cars so this might mean that in deed the rich are getting richer and the poor, well, are getting poorer. But like in any other situation, opinions are different. For example, Bentley's North American president thinks that this increase in sales only means that people trust and are confident in the economy. China is also doing OK, but still, the US is number one in the world in terms of luxury brands. The two companies mentioned above are not the only ones that have a lot of success, BMW and VW have developed a lot of new models. On the other hand, Daimler is not really in the same place and as a last action, decided to bring back to life the Maybach, but, well, it didn't work out.
