Toyota has recently announced some relevant details relating to the North American version that is planned to go on sale in the United States as a 2013 model later this year. The announcement was expected as it follows tha December launch of the updated 2012 Land Cruiser 200 in its home market of Japan. The 2013 Land Cruiser is most likely to be first seen at next week's Detroit Auto Show, showing the same styling changes applied to the European specification model. Analysing the exterior, one can easily notice the tail lamps, the redesigned outer side mirrors, the chrome side moldings, the enlarged front and rear fenders, LED Daytime Running Lights, headlamps with HID low-beams, as well as an updated front grille. The revised model is now riding on newly developed 18-inch alloy wheels featuring a high-gloss finish that are shod in P285/60 R 18 mud-and-snow steel-belted radial tires. The interior is highly refined and stylish, offering an updated meter-cluster lighting, chrome-plated air registers, brighter silver instrument panel ornamentation and a higher gloss wood grain finish. Furthermore, an AC 120V rear cargo deck power outlet, an additional power outlet at the rear of the center console, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, heated steering wheel, an Eco Driving Indicator light and zone display, a redesigned Multi-information Display and a Multi-terrain Monitor with front, side or rear selectable views, represent new enhancements available for the 2013 model. A good news is that the famous Japanese carmaker decide to offer all previously optional safety and convenience features standard for those customers who wanted their vehicles to be well equipped. These features comprise Toyota's Premium Hard Disk Drive Navigation with Entune multi-media system and JBL audio, heated second row seats, voice and Bluetooth hands-free controls, multi-information display, leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift lever, headlamp cleaners, center-console cooler box, rain-sensing windshield wipers, color-keyed rear spoiler and rear-seat DVD entertainment system. Concerning the powertrain, some changes were made to the 4x4's various electronic systems, while the Land Cruiser continues to receive its power from the 5.7-liter V8 engine that delivers a power output of 381 HP and 401 lb-ft of torque, paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. The standard equipment of the Land Cruiser further includes a Trailer Sway Control and a new four-wheel multi-terrain anti-lock braking system. A Multi-terrain system matches the conditions of the terrain, in loose terrain such as sand or mud, by dialing in wheel slip control and it is a new feature for the 2013MY. A new five-speed CRAWL Control integrating an Off-Road Turn Assist feature is activated when the transfer case is shifted into low range regulating engine speed and output along with braking force in order to help the driver on extremely rough level ground or steep grades. The function of the Off-Road Assist feature is to pulse the rear corner brakes to allow the 4x4 to make sharper turns while steering through tight quarters on rugged terrarin.
