The brand-new 2013 Dodge Dart spread a lot of excitement among the car enthusiasts as it boasts to be the first Chrysler product based upon a Fiat architecture, a wider and longer version of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta's platform. Some fans were so anxious that they released pictures together with the first video of the compact sedan on the road. The Dart is a strong competitor for the Ford Focus and Chevrolet, effectively replacing the Caliber in Dodge's lineup. The American buyers will be offered an initial choice of three gasoline four-cylinder engines, incorporating two natural aspirated units featuring a displacement of 2.0-liters and 2.4-liters rated at 160 and 184 HP, and a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine from the Abarth 500 with 160 HP. Being available in a front-wheel drive, the Dart will make its debut with a Fiat Group-sourced six-speed dual-clutch transmission and a six-speed manual gearbox. A nine-speed transmission is being developed by the ZF Group and it will be released in 2013.
