Volkswagen introduced the new Beetle Ragster concept

The second-generation Beetle convertible, the Beetle Ragster concept was introduced for the first time back in 2005 at the North American International Auto Show. Now, six years later, Volkswagen is releasing another concept a lot like the 2005 one, but at the 2012 Auto Show in Detroit.
The new model is called the E-Bugster and its name comes from electric-beetle-speedster. The coupe has as base the latest Beetle and it looks absolutely fantastic with its much lower roof, black A-pillar, wide C-pillar and its 19-inch wheels. The best thing about it is the bodywork that almost tells us that it will never see production. The interesting thing is that its power-train will keep on going. The model features an 85kW electric motor that is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack situated under the boot.
The common elements between the 2005 model and this new one stop here as the new Bugster has zero CO2 emissions and a range of 160 km. The battery pack is compatible with both 120V and 240V chargers. 80% of the battery can be charged in 30 minutes.
