The US market needs a different Fiat 500

Fiat is now again on the US market after 30 years of absence and the introduction of the first product was meant to be a very good one. We are talking about the 500 city car, a model that created big sensations in Europe with sales of 770.000 units since 2007. Things had to go well in the US as well. The BMW Mini was supposed to have big problems, but in 2011 the Fiat only managed to sell 26.000 units. The fault must belong to the late launch, but also to the strategy must have been not the best one in the first place. Now, the carmaker thought about a new plan. The engineers will work on a bigger, five-door wagon version developed especially for the North American market. Maybe this will get the customer's attention. Even though it is made for the US, it will first be launched in Europe. Mini started the same, but then with some improvements, the car was selling alone.
