BMW Group is recalling 235,000 turbocharged MINI models worldwide

A global recall which affects approximately 235,000 turbocharged MINI models, of which 88,911 are in the U.S., has recently been issued by the BMW Group because of an issue that concerns the circuit board controlling the eelctric auxiliary water pump that is supposed to cool the engine's turbocharger. Although there have been no reports of any injuries or accidents related to the glitch, the company informed that the circuit board might malfunction and overheat, thus causing a vehicle fire. 2007-2011 Mini Cooper S, 2008-2011 Mini Cooper S Clubman, 2009-2011 Mini Cooper S Convertible, 2009-2011 Mini Cooper JCW, 2009-2011 Mini Cooper JCW Clubman, 2009-2011 Cooper JCW Convertible, as well as 2011 Cooper S Countryman passenger cars, which were produced from November 14, 2006, through January 18, 2011, are part of the recall. The carmaker announced that owners of the affected models would be notified and dealers were going to replace the entire water pump unit, at no charge. The recall is scheduled to begin in the States during February 2012.
