Germany will soon have on the streets a fleet of green patrol cars offered by Japanese carmaker Toyota for the Berlin Police. The first lot contains three Prius units as part of a program called Initiative 120 that wants to reduce the carbon footprint of the police. So, the initiative will start with the Berlin Police using 11 eco-friendly vehicles. Between these, they will receive the Opel Ampera, Kangoo Van Z.E., the Renault Fluence sedan Z.E. and the Mitsubishi i-MiEV. The plan is to introduce as many green vehicles as possible, vehicles that can offer under 120 g/km CO2 emissions. Everything sounds very good, nature, clean air with no emissions, but really think about it; imagine one of the Prius patrol cars in a pursuit situation. How do you think it would handle a situation of this kind? Well, we will just have to follow their activities and see.
