Nissan is building its third plant in Mexico

Nissan has recently informed about its intentions of investing no more than $2 billion to make a new manufacturing facility in Aguascalientes, Mexico, which is about to be ready by the end of next year. The place proves to be ideal not only for producing cars, but also for shifting cars to South American nations that share trade agreements. Nissan aims to have 85% locally produced cars sold by 2015 and also to be able to cut the dependence on imports to North America. Carlos Ghosn, chairman and CEO of Nissan Motor, commented that Mexico was a key engine for Nissan's growth in the Americas and together with their new plant in Brazil, the new manufacturing facility in Aguacalientes became an important pillar in their strategy to ensure that Nissan obtained the capacity it needed to increase sales volume and market share across the Americas. Another positive aspect of Nissan's intentions is that the new factory will provide 3,000 jobs directly and an estimated 9,000 more through the parts suppliers.
