American carmaker, Ford wants to be closer to the environment and its customers and this is why started downsizing its engines. To reduce the fuel consumption and the CO2 emissions the company revealed a new turbocharged 1.0-liter 3-cylinder EcoBoost petrol unit for the family car range in Europe. This actually has two levels of power. The first one produces 99 horsepower and delivers 58.9 mpg UK and 109 g/km of CO2 emissions. The other version is capable of developing 123 horsepower and 170 Nm of torque with a fuel economy of 56.5 mpg UK and 114 g/km CO2 emissions. The engine that now powers the five-door Ford was produced in Dunton and Dagenham by the UK engineers. The model will be sold in the UK for GBP13.995 starting February. This is actually GBP250 more in comparison with the 1.6-liter and will soon be found in the C-MAX, Grand C-MAX compact minivans and also on the B-MAX small MPV models, but at a later date.
