Jeep B-SUV was delayed because of Fiat Sedici development

A new compact SUV model was planned by Fiat Group which aimed to launch it under the Jeep brand, tapping the emerging B-segment. But the project is going to be delayed until the second quarter of 2014 although the baby Jeep was originally destined to hit the production lines in 2013 at Fiat's Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy. It appears that the reason of this delay originated in the company's decision to hurry the development of a new Sedici SUV, wanting to replace the current version that is to be found as a rebadged Suzuki SX4. Priorities are placed elsewhere in spite of the fact that Chrysler Group is boosting Fiat's profits hugely. A proper crossover is necessary for Fiat to increase its sales figures in Europe and as far as the B-SUV is concerned, it would take some time until it makes its presence on the global markets, as well as in the US, for the idea of such a small soft-roader is quite new. Strong measures are needed to quench shareholders' lust for action as Fiat expects ist sales in Europe and Italy to decline to new lows.
