Mitsubishi feels the European crissis

Because of the European economical crisis, more carmakers begin to feel worried because their demand keeps decreasing. For example Mitsubishi, dropped from 340.000 units sold in 2007 to 218.000 units sold last year. The carmaker has only one European assembly plant, the NedCar factory in Netherlands. At the beginning, back in 1991, it was built as a result of a joint venture between Mitsubishi, Volvo and also the Dutch government. Ten years later became the sole owner and now develops the Colt and the Outlander SUV. At the end of 2010 Mitsubishi decided to terminated the production of the Colt this year and is still analyzing whether to continue with the Outlander or not. Only 50.000 units were produced last year, a quarter of its maximum annual capacity and less than 5% of the carmaker's total output. If things won't go better, the factory will be closed.
