Although the Chevrolet Aveo is not considered to be Europe's favourite hatch, it has merits when it comes to talk about safety. Thus, the strange looking vehicle received the maximum of five Euro NCAP stars last year and currently it bears the name "best in class" by the safety body in the supermini segment. Six airbags are available as standard for the car, together with child-seat latching system, electronic stability control, traction control, a four-channel anti-lock braking system featuring brake assist and electronic brake force distribution. The points that the Aveo obtained in Euro NCAP tests, are 95 out of 100 in adult occupant protection and 87 for the way it handles child occupants in case of a crash. Mark Terry, Managing Director, Chevrolet UK, stated that they tokk safety very seriously at Chevrolet and the class-leading result for the new Chevrolet Aveo offered no doubts on the matter. He added that their whole line-up provided outstanding safety credentials which brought great peace of mind to their customers, with the majority winning a five star rating.
