The new MQB is keeping the German car manufacturer Volkswagen quite busy with the car fans' guess being that they are going to replace every car that fits this as soon as possible in spite of the fact that they are fresh. Designated the B7, the current generation actually represents a facelifted version of the older B6 and it has been around since the 2010 Paris Motor Show. However, it will be soon replaced by the B8. A test mule for the next generation Passat has been spy photographed while it was undergoing cold weather testing in Europe. The car appears to be in a station wagon configuration and the MQB is not likely to underpin both the new A3 and this giant family car, but it is aimed to simplify production and cut costs. One may suppose that the Passat will become a bit wider in the form of a new generation judging by the way the wheels sit on the mule, while new Passat's tech is also expected to be under development as the part of the dash and the instrument cluster were covered up.
