Smart Car2go arrives in Britain

British shores, the city of Birmingham, are currently receiving the car2go urban mobility with tens of other cities in Europe and North America to benefit from the program. Fitted with an economical petrol engine featuring start/stop system, car2go will ensure a total of 250 two-seater smart fortwo "car2go edition" vehicles, starting this autumn. Robert Henrich, CEO of car2go, stated that they were proudd to be chosen to build up Birmingham's first fully-flexible carsharing vehicle, thus showing that the car2go was ready to quickly expand its service in forward-thinking cities which required a new mobility solution that would complement their existing transportation infrastructure. Councillor Timothy Huxtable, Cabinet Member for Transport, Regeneration and Environment, commented that Birmingham was commited to developing a wide range of green and public transport initiatives in order to reduce both carbon emissions and traffic congestion within the city, adding that through those projects, they were keen on exploring the potential that short term car share schemes might have, alongside improvements to public transport and walking/cycling links, in removing the traditional reliance on bringing cars into the city centre everyday.
