Opel built 500000 Insignia cars

The 500.000th Insignia was built at the Opel Russelsheim plant, four years after its official launch in 2008. The white Insignia Sports Tourer is powered by a 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo diesel engine capable of developing 192 horsepower. This is the model in question and the engine is new, but already has fans. 40% of the cars produced at this plant are Sports Tourers, another 40% were 5-door lift-backs and the rest of 20 % are sedans. The UK and Germany are still the biggest markets and last year, for example, the carmaker managed to sell 150.000 cars in Europe. For the North American customers, Opel created an Insignia sedan version called the Buick Regal, a model built in Canada.
