Ferrari developed the SP12 EC

European car specialists from Ferrari had a very difficult time these last few months as they have been working on a new model, a special edition actually. The new car has as base the 458 Italia and it was developed especially for Eric Clapton. Its official name is the SP12 EC. Nothing is for sure yet, but rumors say it was purchased from a London dealer for an incredible price of GBP3 million. No matter the source, this incredible price is still way too much if you ask anyone. According to the carmaker, the famous singer always had an attraction for a certain model, the 512 BB. He even owned three units over the years. This is how the idea came for the SP12 EC. The well-known singer wanted to drive a model inspired by this model. This is not all. He also wanted to add some elements from the super car 458 Italia and in the end, the Ferrari specialists managed to finish it. It is true, the engineers have been working really hard, but it is always good when the result of your work is being appreciated. It motivates you actually and this is what happened in this case. Unfortunately, the carmaker was a little cheap when it comes to detail on the new SP12 EC and so, this is all we know so far. The singer wanted a car that reminded him of the 512, which was powered by a V12 engine, not a V8, but unfortunately, the carmaker does not make them anymore. The rumors might be still wrong and so the car can be built by a V8, but we will have to wait for the official details that will be revealed a little later.
