BMW opens new factory in China

BMW's expansion into China is getting bigger and bigger after initially cooperating with Brilliance Automotive 2003. The production of BMW-badged cars started in China in 2004. Thus, a new factory was opened in the Tiexi district of the city of Shenyang, on the 24th of May as the German car manufacturer is aiming to increase the China production to 400,000 in the future due to the investments of $628 million. This figure appears to be quite realistic considering their relentless wish to make money in China. Everybody's confidence is increasing because the new plant has already begun to produce the X1, soon to be followed by the all-new 3-Series. Also placed in Shenyang, the Dadong plant is going to focus on developing the long wheelbase 5-Series with 100,000 units per year. The Chairman of the Brilliance Group stated that the development of the new plant was the result of the success of BMW Brilliance together with the strong cooperation between shareholders. The green credentials set the new plant apart thanks to the fact that it makes extensive use of the sunlight, wind, as well as optimal positioning for the windows in order to reduce the electricity figures by 25% and the heating ones by 50%. Furthermore, the overall CO2 emissions will be reduced by 32%.
