Volkswagen will acquire Porsche

Apparently, German carmaker Volkswagen will close a deal to acquire Porsche after many discussions and analysis.  At first this information might sound a little strange because the Germans will buy one of the most prestigious and exclusive brands in the world, get used to it, it will happen. It is a little ironic how this decision comes after back in 2008 and 2009, the small Porsche Company tried to buy the much bigger Volkswagen. The strategy involved a lot of financial maneuvers and investments that were almost fatal for Porsche. The thing is that the Germans were the ones that managed to save the attacker by working out a system. Now, a few years later, finally Volkswagen will become the Porsche owner starting on August 1st. there are a lot of connections between the two companies. For example the VW supervisory board chairman Ferdinand Piech is also part of the Porsche-Piech clan that own important shares in Porsche AG. Also, the current Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg were engineered by Porsche and share a chassis. The details regarding the merger will be kept confidential to avoid EUR1.5 billion in taxes that usually follow an acquisition or a merger. After everything is finished, the German carmaker will pay shareholders $5.61 billion for the rest of 50.1% shares they do not own yet. All factories will continue the work, but this time together, just like in the past, like in the case of the Touareg and the Cayenne. If you are worried the German company will not be able to handle luxury brands, do not worry because it already owns Lamborghini, Audi, Bentley and Bugatti. The future Bentleys and Audis will have some Volkswagen-influence, but they will remain independent brands. So far, the agreement seems to please everyone in both directions.
