Volvo recalls several S80 models

Bad news came from the Volvo house. It seems that the carmaker will recall different S80 units build between 2011 and 2013. The problem found refers to the transmission software. All the process will include a total of 1.469 cars that might have a software error that could prevent the transmission from downshifting from 5th to 4th gear when it should. There is now way of telling which one has this problem without a detailed check-up, but in case one car has it, the engine could stall and so this way, the chances of an accident would be quite big, the RPM being severely decreased. It seems that the carmaker will fix the transmission control module free of charge. This is what the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. The owners with the affected cars will be notified about the check-up around the 19th of this month and then they can contact Volvo Cars of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It you remember, the carmaker recalled 2012 S80 units a little earlier this year also, but this time for faulty wiring harnesses in the seats of the vehicles. That problem could have caused seat belt pretensioners and air bags issues. So far, this is what Volvo is confronting with. Lately, the carmaker had a lot of problems but let us hope they will finish soon.
