Volkswagen Golf R

As mentioned in previous articles, the new German seven-generation Volkswagen Golf is quite good and it looks amazing. Time has come to turn our attention towards the performance editions of the brand, to be more precise, the GTI and the R models. A few months ago, the prototype of the next Golf R was caught on film. Unfortunately it was all covered in camouflage, so we could not see a lot. At the time it made all the sense in the world, as the German carmaker had yet to uncover the 7th generation Golf. Now it is a different story. The specialists have offered us the possibility to see the prototype Golf R with swirly wraps. Now we have a better view, right? Of course, the final production version might be a bit different and this is why the camouflage was not removed completely. The roof spoiler, the tailpipes covers, the exterior mirrors and the design of the front and rear bumpers can be a lot different in the end. No official information was revealed yet, but different sources declare that under the hood it will have a 2.0-liter force-fed inline four capable of generating more than the current model, so more than 266 horsepower in EU specification. The carmaker will share the same engine with the Audi S3. to send the power to the four wheel drive system, the carmaker will use a Haldex-type multi-plate clutch and a 6-speed manual transmission. The ones that do not seem to be quite interested in this, the engineers offer as optional a 7-speed DSG dual clutch gearbox. To handle the extra power, the new Volkswagen Golf R will have more powerful brakes and also a stiffer suspension. The R package will also include an improved interior boasting sport seats. Its official debut will only take place next year and also, the model will be available in 3-and 5-door versions. carscoop.blogspot
