The 2012 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix offered a great show

The Singapore Grand Prix is not really new on the Formula One calendar as a lot of us might think. Actually it goes way back to 1966, when it was part of the Formula Libre. Four years ago, in 2008 it returned as part of the Formula One World Championship. Since then, Fernando Alonso won twice, and Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton each won one. How did they do this time? After the qualification sessions that took place on Saturday, Lewis Hamilton emerged on pole followed by Pastor Maldonado from Williams; on third arrived Sebastian Vettel and on fourth Jenson Button. Next, we had Fernando Alonso on the fifth place and Paul di Resta competing for Force India arrived on the sixth place. The next four were Mark Webber, Romain Grosjean, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg. The list continues with Kimi Raillonen and Felipe Massa who arrived on 12th and 13th places, respectively. Bruno Senna and Pedro de la Rossa were a bit followed by bad luck as both received grid penalties for unscheduled transmission swaps.

The first lap that took place yesterday had no incidents and Vettel and Button were doing just great on the first places. The first unfortunate incident involved two Caterham cars who collided into each other. Fellipe Messa also had some problems, but tried to make up for lost time. Everything was peaceful until lap 23 when Hamilton, who was in the lead, blew out his transmission. Vettel finished the race on first place. Caterham again had difficulties, as this time Vitaly Petrov missed his pit stop. The team pushed him back, serviced his car and got him back out on the track. Vettel arrived on first place followed by Button and Alonso. They were followed by di Resta, Rosberg, Raikonen, Grosjean, Massa, Ricciardo and Webber. In the end Alonso is still in the lead with 194 points followed by Vettel wirh 165 and Raikkonen with 149. On the 7th of next month will take place the Japanese Grand Prix from Suzoka. autoblog
