Audi plans to introduce the Crosslane Coupe Hybrid Concept in Paris

This year at the Paris Motor Show, Audi will present several models. Beside the new Audi A3 Sportback and the S3, we will have the opportunity to see for the first time the Crosslane Coupe. This is actually a concept for a two-door compact SUV equipped with a hybrid power train. Unfortunately there are no pictures available yet on the model and all you see in the gallery are of an older Audi study. It seems though that the new Audi Crosslane Coupe will measure 4.250 mm in length, 1.990 mm in width and 1.500 mm in height. The wheelbase measures 2.550 mm. If we compare it with the Audi A3, know that it is a bit bigger, but in the same time it is a little bit smaller than the Audi Q3. Apparently the model has as base the new MQB modular platform and it is very much possible it will share a lot of other elements with the new Audi A2 hatchback and the Skoda Yeti. The 3-door, 2+2-seat Q2 study is scheduled for launch in 2015 only. The production version is actually expected to be a 5-door model.

Under the hood, the new Audi Crosslane Coupe hides hybrid power train that includes a 1.5-liter petrol 3-cylinder engine and an electric motor that produces 116 horsepower and 249 Nm of torque, and also a battery pack. The strange part is that the petrol engine does not drive the wheels but only behaves as a range extender unlike other Audi hybrids. It powers the electric motor when the battery is empty.

At launch, the carmaker will offer a hybrid version of the Q2 for sure, but it might also offer a model powered by a 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine or even a 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel. The power will be transferred to the wheels through a front-wheel drive transmission or through an all-wheel drive transmission. carscoop.blogspot
