Suzuki Motors will no longer produce cars for the US

For sure a lot of us thought this might happen at some point soon, but even so, the announcement Suzuki made yesterday caught us by surprise. It seems that the American part of Suzuki Motor Corporation, which is in fast the only distributor of Suzuki cars in the US, will stop its activity due to bankruptcy. According to the carmaker, they will turn all their focus on motorcycles, ATVs and the marine market. This is actually very easy to understand. As soon as the current supplies run out, the Suzuki cars will no longer be sold on the North American market.

The reasons for all these are low sales volumes, unfavorable foreign exchange rates, a limited number of models in its lineup, disproportionally high and increasing costs associated with stringent state and federal regulatory requirements unique to the North American market, but also the high costs associated with growing and maintaining an automotive distribution system in the continental US.  These are the main causes for the bankruptcy, according to the Japanese carmaker. Despite these problems, motorcycles, ATVs and watercraft will continue without any modifications. Also Suzuki owners will not have problems with finding parts. No matter if we are talking about cars, trucks or sport utility vehicles, all will have their warranties honored.

Except the US market, Suzuki will continue selling its products in Japan and the rest of the countries, just like until now. The company intends to honor any automobile buyback agreements that are currently in place with financial institutions. Japanese specialists say the company has enough money to operate its business during the restructuring. This measure was vital for the company and this is why, even if it was a hard decision, the specialists have decided it was time.
