The LA Auto Show will see a lot of Audi Diesels

Next week, on the 29th of November, the Los Angeles Auto Show will open its gates and a lot of manufacturers will present their new achievements. One of them is the German carmaker Audi which will introduce four new models that will try to enter the North American diesel market. Earlier, in September, Audi offered for sale in America the Q7 powered by a 3.0-liter TDI. Soon more will come will available. To be more precise, we are talking about improved versions of the 3.0-liter V6 TDI offered for the A8, A7, A6 and Q5 models. The carmaker plans to offer the A8 TDI for sale in the spring next year. The rest of the TDI models will also be available in dealerships, but in the fall of 2013. According to Scott Keogh, President of Audi of America, the ones that own an Audi TDI have helped the country save over 4 million gallons of gasoline. This is the equivalent of more than 240.000 barrels of foreign oil, so it is quite a serious situation. The best thing about TDI technology is that it delivers incredible fuel efficiency, but it does not sacrifice performance.

The 3.0-liter diesel engine that powers the Audi is capable of producing 240 horsepower and a maximum of 406 lb. ft. of torque, so 550 Nm of torque. This output enables the new Audi A8 TDI to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds. Despite the power delivered the fuel consumption reaches an estimated 24 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. Unfortunately there are no other figures available for the rest of the models. Please check out the photo gallery below to see what we are talking about.
