The 1903 Ford Model A is back with Ford

Many years ago, in June 16th 1903, to be more precise, the first Ford car was born. We are talking about the Ford Model A, the first product of Ford Motor Company. One month after the company started its activity, the cash reserves were less than $250. On July 13th the same year Dr. E. Pfenning came to the rescue and offered $1.320 which actually represented deposits from the two other customers and the pull payment of Dr. Pfenning. The first Model A was delivered on July 28th 1903. The model was powered by a 2-cylinder engine capable of generating 8 horsepower and displacing 100 cubic inches. This output enabled the model to reach a top speed of 30 mph. Just for comparison, the current 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 receives power from an 8-cylinder engine with a 355 cubic inches displacement capable of reaching a top speed of 200 mph. Back in 1903 only three Ford Model A-vehicles were built and now there is only one left. The good news is that Executive Chairman Bill Ford managed to purchase it at auction. This event matches the 150th anniversary of the birth of Henry Ford.

The model that returns home is a red Rear Entry Tonneau. The model had only 5 previous owners since its births. The first one started with a $170 deposit for the $850 car. The next owner was a collector which sold it in 1961 to a Swiss Ford dealer who has decided to display it in Germany at the European Center of Ford. In 2007 was bought by John O Quinn in 2007 and then by Bill Ford. The Ford Model A features a 72 inch wheelbase and weighs approximately 1.250 pounds. This incredible model represents many years of ambition and devotement and the good news is that it is home again after more than 100 years.
