PSA platforms will be used by Opel and Vauxhall


We have head about the partnership agreement between General Motors and PSA Peugeot Citroen a few weeks ago and now, the specialists bring a little light on the matter. A lot of journalists asked different questions and GM Vice Chairman, Steve Girsky and Chairman of the PSA Peugeot Citroen Managing Board, Philippe Varin tried to answer them all during a meeting organized in Brussels a few days ago at the Maison de lAutomobile. Actually at the event, the officials had the opportunity to discuss in detail their plans and the progress made the two in their global strategic alliance which in fact was announced last year, at the end of February. In December 2012, the final agreements were signed in line with the initially announced schedule concerning purchasing, logistics and development of common vehicle projects.



All tasks and responsibilities concerning the joint product development programs have been distributed in an even way, enabling both partners to gain maximum advantages from collaborative venture. The engineers will build the Opel / Vauxhall MPVs, the C-segment crossover utility vehicle for the Peugeot brand and the B-segment multi-purpose vehicles on PSA Peugeot Citroen platforms. The updated B-segment platform for low emission vehicles will be co-developed by both partners. This has been designed for the new generation of Opel / Vauxhall and PSA Peugeot Citroen cars in Europe and not only. General motors and PSA Peugeot Citroen have confirmed their plans to develop a new global project to broaden their alliance and seize new opportunities. To reach their goals, the specialists are exploring opportunities in growth markets. Here we must mention Latin America and Russia. The two represent priority regions for both groups. The specialists want to create a new generation of small, fuel-efficient, high performance 3-cylinder petrol engines that come from the EB line of small petrol engines developed by PSA Peugeot Citroen.
