The VW Golf receives 4Motion AWD

German carmaker Volkswagen has finally launched the 4Motion all-wheel drive system for their new generation Golf VII, one of the most fuel efficient 4WD cars in the world. To be more precise, the model uses less than five liters of fuel. The Germans have decided to expand its range and offer front-wheel drive for the models launched before the end of last year. The 4Motion all-wheel drive is now the center of attention actually. Looking back for a moment, we can remember the first Golf with four driven wheels. The model had its first official debut in 1986. The permanent four-wheel drive system of the new VW Golf is very modern and efficient in comparison with other systems. In this latest version of the Golf 4Motion the carmaker is using a 4-wheel drive system that has an enhanced, 5th generation Haldex coupling. So that you know, the 4Motion drive weighs 1.4 kg less than the previous system and it requires no pressure accumulator. It also reacts extremely quickly. In the end, the model is capable of offering greater active safety and improved handling.

The fuel consumption was lowered by 15 %. The model is available in three levels of specification in Europe: Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. There are also two turbo diesel engines available that offer high torque and also great fuel efficiency. The 4-cylinder engines can produce 105 PS and 150 PS and use 4.5 / 4.7 liters of fuel per 100 km.

All VW Golf 4Motion models come equipped with a Stop / Start system and battery regeneration as standard. On the base version we can also find the 4-wheel EDS, the XDSfront and rear axle transverse lock, the electronic stabilization program, an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, seven airbags and a lot more. The price for the 4-wheel drive system offered on the Golf 4Motion in Germany is EUR1.800.
