Renault enters 24 Hours Le Mans


With CEO Bernard Ollivier as head of the operation, the recently-created Societe des Automobiles Alpine Caterham has started working in a new car. According to the manufacturer, the model will be available on the market starting 2016. Until then the company is trying to improve and empower its image thanks to carefully-tailored programmes in all its areas of activity. At the 2012 Monaco F1 grand Prix and at the Le Mans Classic week, the carmaker has presented the Alpine A110-50. The model has been released for the first time as a 50 years celebration of the Berlinette. At the same event another five Alpine A110s have also been presented for the recent Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique.



Now, another important step has been taken with the announcement that an Alpine prototype is to race in the competitive 2013 European Le Mans Series endurance racing championship. The model will also participate at the Le Mans 24 Hours that will take place on the 22nd of June until the 23rd. for the return on the competition lane Alpine has joined forces with Signatech. Apaarently, the Philippe Sinault-run team will enter an Alpine LM P2 prototype with an Alpine chassis that receives power from a Nissan engine capable of generating 500 horsepower. The drivers that will try to do miracles on the race track are Nelson Panciatici and Pierre Rauges. The name of the third driver that will join the team will be announced a bit later, on the 24th of March to be more precise. Michelin an Total are two of the companies that have helped Alpine in terms of technical and financial support for the races that are about to start.
