The Smart is famous world wide as a car especially designed for the crowded areas of cities. No matter the place you are in, the U.S., Europe, Asia, or in any other part of the world it is impossible not to see the Smart battling its way through the restless life of the big cities. Daimler, the company that manufactures the Smart has confirmed the rumors according to which they plan to introduce electric versions for the Smart ForTwo and for the Smart ForFour.

Information about the Smart ForTwo and Smart ForFour are well kept secret. However Daimler wishes that with the help of these two to have the biggest portfolio of electric vehicles in the industry. The powertrains are under a mysterious shadow of unknown. Howvwer suppositions can be made based on the previous data. The two vehicles might be equipped with an electric engine able of producing about 87 bhp(65 kW).

Smart ForTwo could be introduced in the final part of 2013 while the Smart ForFour is scheduled to appear sometime in 2014. The electric models will come after the release of the conventional powered cars. Mercedes targets at reducing CO2 emissions to 125g/km until 2016. But for this to happen, the company needs to reduce the weight of their future vehicles, to optimize aerodynamics and to create more efficient engines.
