Aston Martin Hybrid Hydrogen Rapide S promised for Nurburgring

Each car that Aston Martin manufactures respects the most rigorous norms and with every new model they try to surpass themselves. One of their amazing vehicles is the Aston Martin Rapide S. The novelty with this car is that the company is planning to enter the Aston Martin Hybrid Hydrogen Rapide S on the racing track at Nurburgring. The 41st edition of the Zurich competition is programmed for the following month.

As the name clearly suggests, the alternative fueled vehicle is created upon the 2013 Aston Martin Rapide S model. It can work either on gasoline or pure gaseous hydrogen or using a combination of those two. The hydrogen system is made out of the following elements: a hydrogen fuel rail, the hydrogen tanks and the engine system. It is equipped with four tanks made of carbon fiber. They can carry 3.5 kg (7.7 lbs) of hydrogen kept at a pressure of 350 bars. Two tanks are placed in the boot and the others two are set next to the driver.

As a reminder, the base model Aston Martin Rapide S, is powered by a naturally-aspirated V12 5.9-liter engine that produces 558 HP (410 kW). The peak torque can reach 620 Nm (457 lb-ft). The Rapide S gets to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.9 seconds and its top speed is 190 mph (305.7 km/h).

The Aston Martin Hybrid Hydrogen Rapide S will represent a premiere for the racing field. It will be the first vehicle working on hydrogen that will start in an international event. It is also the first sportscar having no emissions that manages to complete a race pace lap in Nurburgring. The race hosted by Zurich is scheduled on the 19th and 20th of May. Aston Martin is at its 8th consecutive participation and will battle more than 150 cars on the 25 km circuit.
