VW has developed the new Golf R Mk7

If you are curious to know the next step for the new German model the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 family after the launch of the GTI in Europe, please take a quick look in the photo gallery bellow. The model will also be available in the US, but only next year, according to the manufacturer. Despite the fact the engineers have tried their best to cover the red GTI badges on the front fenders on the model in the pictures, we can see at the back and the quad exhaust pipe arrangement as well as the visibly larger front and rear brake discs that they leave no doubt that we are actually looking at the new Volkswagen Golf R. the performance flagship  Golf will have a different design from that of the GTI when it comes to styling details like for example, the front bumper design and body kit. The alloy wheels used to transfer the output to the road were not revealed and will probably be different as well as other parts maybe. In the gallery, the model was photographed during a testing session on the Nurburgring.

The model will receive power from a new 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine capable of generating 296 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque. This is the same engine that powers the Audi S3 3-door hatchback, the 5-door hatchback and the 4-door Sedan models. Either way, the model will be a lot more powerful than the current Mk6, which is capable of producing 266 horsepower. The VW Golf R will have an all-wheel drive system paired to a 6-speed manual transmission or a DSG automatic transmission. The new Mk7 will be lighter and stronger in comparison to its predecessor thanks to the new MQB platform and the use of different materials. Source: carscoop.blogspot
