A new large van can be released under Daimler and Renault partnership

Since April 2010 Daimler and Renault set up a work partnership in order to reduce costs. Renault owner Nissan will manufacture engines for the Daimler brand. The Germans can also build a new plant in Mexico, near Nissan. The two companies will use for next Smart ForFour and Renault Twingo models a common platform and will also share the electric parts. More than that, Mercedes-Benz will get a new X-Class hatchback between the Smart and the new A-Class that will be based on a platform from Renault-Nissan.

In order to strengthen the three years old alliance Daimler and Renault are working now on a new project. According to a report in Automotive News they want to develop a new large van. This new van will be the first commercial vehicle with French and German blood. Although Daimler is now joined with Volkswagen Group regarding big cargo vehicles the alliance is showing signs of breaking apart as the guys from Volkswagen are showing their intentions to work on their own for the next van generation. Things are going better and better for Daimler and Renault joint venture as the Germans already use the Kangoo model as base for their Mercedes Citan and the officials confirmed their new partnership on the large commercial van.A possible plant location can be in France. We are looking forward seeing this project materialized.
